WELCOME TO MOOSEWOOD ART STUDIO
Moosewood Art Studio is a visual arts school serving homeschool and after-school students in grades K–12. Each class is designed as a full-year program, divided into Fall and Spring semesters.
About the Artist
My family and I moved to Palmer, Alaska from Stansbury Park, Utah, after my husband’s job transfer. While in Utah, I had the opportunity to build a strong visual arts program at Stansbury High School, where I also taught college-level concurrent enrollment courses through Salt Lake Community College.
I am a currently certified Alaska Visual Arts teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience, including 10 years at the high school level, 3 years in elementary, and 13 years in private instruction. My classes range from beginning to advanced across a variety of media. I am qualified to teach AP Studio Art, and many of my students have earned high scores on their AP portfolios.
I offer K–12 drawing and painting classes from beginning through advanced levels, along with studio and AP Art Studio for serious 11th and 12th-grade students. Class sizes are intentionally kept small (maximum 4 students) to allow for personalized, one-on-one instruction. I do not currently offer adult classes, but I plan to add weekend workshops in the future.
I work confidently in many media, including graphite, charcoal, pen and ink, watercolor, oil, and acrylic. My favorite medium is watercolor, and I especially enjoy painting Alaskan wildlife and portraits of my children. Students and colleagues often describe me as an excellent teacher—an honor confirmed when I received the Teacher of the Year award from Salt Lake Community College and Stansbury High School for the 2011–2012 school year.
When I’m not teaching or creating art, I enjoy fly fishing, hiking, camping, and spending time outdoors with my family. Many of my paintings are inspired by these Alaskan adventures.
I look forward to meeting you and your student. Register today!
