Art Foundations: Shape Robot

This week my Art Foundations class learned about shape. Geometric and organic shapes were explored and each students got a great understanding of the differences between the two.  The Robot Shape project was introduced with geometric shapes being the focus.  Cut-out shapes were glued together to create their very own robot.  The kids had a great time learning and creating these.

Glazing in Oil

In the painting 2 class, Olivia was able to learn the technique of glazing in oil.  She first drew her bottles in pencil and layered in black and white paint to start.  Once dry, she used thin layers of oil created by using liquin.  This is a quick way to paint without the need to try and get the values right with the colors.  She still had to add thin layers of colors over some of the areas to create a warmer or cooler color where needed.  She did an amazing job creating her first glazed painting.

Advanced Drawing: Foreshortening

Today in Advanced Drawing, my students learned about foreshortening and created a self-portrait where they got to choose their hand or foot as the subject matter.   Black and white charcoal was used as the medium with the subject colored with Chalk pastels to add emphasis.   These projects were done with such skill.  I am so proud of these students and how well they did.
